About Our Soke, Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi

Soke Hatsumi was born on December 2, 1931. He studied many martial arts in his younger years including becoming an accomplished Judo practitioner in college while studying the Japanese medical techniques of Seikotsu.

At age 26, he began studying under his "true" teacher, Toshitsugu Takamatsu. He studied with Takamatsu Sensei for fifteen years at which point Takamatsu Sensei passed on to Soke Hatsumi the nine traditions we study today.

Footnote: Soke Hatsumi continues to teach at the Bujinkan Honbu Dojo in Noda, Japan.

Cailfornia Bujinkan Dojo hosts several significant Shihan-taught seminars throughout the year and encourages our students to travel the world so that they may attend other important training opportunities. See the Class & Events Calendar for information about future events.
